Singapore Business Index
According to World Bank report ‘Doing Business 2012’ global business is improving. Such conclusions were made according to the Business Index results.
High ranking of this index would mean good business environment for local companies and business development. Recent results indicated Singapore as the country with the highest “Business Index”. Second place was given to Hong Kong, followed by New Zealand, the United States, Denmark, Norway and the United Kingdom.
For evaluation of this index, experts were considering the following categories of business regulations: starting a business, paying taxes, registering property, getting credit, protecting investors, enforcing contracts, resolving insolvency (formerly, closing a business) and trading across borders.
The survey included 183 world economies. 125 countries included in the index implemented a total of 245 business regulatory reforms – 13% more reforms than in the previous year. According to the results, for the last 6 years 163 countries has shown serious improvements in their business environment and regulations. Such countries as Russia, India and China have shown best results for improvements.
