Plans To Build The World’s Tallest Statue in Cyprus
A Russian philanthropic foundation with the name “International Club Philanthropists and Patrons of Europe” unveiled plans to build the tallest statue of the world in Cyprus’ southern coast. Particularly the project will be located at Monagroulli village which is located in Limassol.
The construction will cost 100 million euro and will be a 135 meter statue of an angel with its arms outstretched. The statue will be with several buildings around it e.g. a conference room of 1300 people, a VIP conference room of 300 people, a concert hall, theatre and various galleries of art works, restaurants and cafes.
Mr. Panicos Onoufriou who is the Cyprus representative of the international club of philanthropists and patrons of Europe said to Cyprus Mail “There are already plans for big events from abroad, mainly Russia through the club, which represents over than 10000 members in Russia and the former Soviet states”.
The name of the statue will be “King Angel – the Keeper of the World”. Rumours say that like the Statue of Liberty of New York City, lifts will carry visitors on the top of the statue where they can enjoy the view with food and drink. The Temple of Kindness and Peace which is a modern church, will be built in the base of the statue.
The world’s tallest statue up to now is the ‘Spring Temple Buddha’ in the People’s Republic China, which is 128 meters high. New York’s Statue of Liberty is 93 meters high and Christ the Redeemer of Rio de Janeiro is 39 meters high. These facts bring Cyprus and more particularly Limassol in the top of the list with a statue of 135 meters.
